How To Create an Online Store | Basics

“We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started, and know the place for the first time.” - T.S. Elliot.

It wasn’t so long ago that I wrote a few articles about my love of fashion and the mistakes and lessons I learned from attempting to start my own label the first time around. Just like the famous quote from T.S. Elliot, I have come full circle on a dream of mine to end up back where I started but with a fresh perspective. It’s finally here, and it’s been in the making for months! In a few days’ time you can join me and shop The Wardrobe online!

How To Create an Online Store | New Beginnings

I have been super-duper secret squirrel about my work behind the scenes for online store. That’s because I still had a LOT of decisions to make until very recently! One of the most important decisions for me was deciding between timeless, staple pieces and extravagant occasion wear. My personal wardrobe is a harmonious mixture of both, and it took time for me to figure out how to present them to you in the best way possible. Initially, I planned to have one online store of everyday accessories. But I had a dream, and not just any dream a literal dream about my signature label - Katie Marvel. I have written a previous blog post about my inspiration behind Katie Marvel, the label but planning the details was challenging! I had a selection of every day wear, and a selection of intricately handcrafted pieces and I knew they couldn’t be combined! Finally I came to a conclusion on how to solve the problem, and it’s the same way the fashion designers of Europe solve this exact dilemma! A pret-a-porter selection, or ready to wear range, along with a couture selection, or hand crafted collection! As a result, the every day staples will be available in monthly collections through The Wardrobe Shop, and Katie Marvel will be handmade in limited run collections for magical occasions!

How To Create an Online Store | The Wardrobe Shop

The first collection on the official wardrobe shop reflects all the styles and pieces I love to wear everyday, and the aesthetic of the blog. Dedicated to being ahead of the trends, The Wardrobe Shop features monthly collections around a specific theme or story, with an accompanying narrative that will effortlessly blend into your current wardrobe with simple, staple pieces to love. ‘Hello World’ is the first collection and just in time for spring, it’s about embracing a new season with a fresh perspective and aesthetic.

I’ve slowly started to share a few clues about what will be in the opening of my bespoke label. It may come as a complete surprise, because the pieces are focused on the timeless staples I often select to style many of my outfits which I handcrafted. The first collection is centred around the roots of my initial inspiration. The first collection comes full circle on my fashion venture. Originally called ‘The Dorothy Collection’ the first release is titled ‘There Is No Place Like Home’ and celebrates everything about childhood, dreams and imagination brought into an elegant sphere. It’s an evolving process, each collection starting with three key signature pieces and over time I will be adding further pieces. Katie Marvel is timeless, and reflects the need for statement signature pieces that will take you through seasons, occasions, and years to come.
