It was a perfect evening for a wander in this incredible field I spotted. The story behind this photoshoot though was not as relaxing as it may seem. First of all, there were a family of llamas I had to avoid in the background. (No thank you to being spat on!) and second there was a road running adjacent to the field from which I had many things yelled from passers by, making the shoot very interesting indeed! Nonetheless, this is one of my favourite locations. The trees behind make it completely surreal, it was the perfect backdrop for my 'Little Red Riding Hood' inspired theme.
This outfit started as a more traditional look, I had the dress and mantle which matched perfectly and I was looking for the right pieces to pair with it. Of course Little Red needs a basket and flowers to take along! Then as I realised I needed the right hair flower to match I created a set of little hair flowers to pop in a little line down my plait too. I love the effect! It reminds me a lot of the movie Tangled, where Rapunzel has her hair braided with flowers in the town scene. (Totally my ideal wedding hair style by the way!).
I used copper shades in my makeup, with a classic red lip. The light was initially very bright as it's setting a lot later now in summer, so some of the images are taken when the light was full and glowy, and things are pretty and hazy. This is what early summer is all about, and when the evenings get a little cooler a piece like this mantle is the perfect practical accessory for not getting too cold.
The dress itself has a button up front, and two layers of skirt. I wore this dress with a petticoat from Rita Sue Clothing, they are beautiful petticoats and hand made here in New Zealand too! I usually wear this dress without one, but because of the shape of the mantle I wanted extra floof! My bracelet is my favourite hand made piece, a rainbow glitter bead bracelet and obviously, it goes with every outfit. Hence the appeal. You can grab one on my Etsy shop!
These beautiful Woody Ellen bags, a little coin purse and clutch are available from Moxie Mama Wear and feature hand painted designs. This one is a hummingbird and flowers, and is from the 'Honeybird Collection' and they are super cute! The clutch can have the chain popped back inside it too, and there are lots more sizes and types of this design available on the Moxie Mama website here!
There are a total of nine different products available in this collection, the coin purse retails at Moxie Mama for $45, and the box clutch is $95. What an adorable addition to your wardrobe! I just adore the detailing in these pieces, and the finish is a lovely fabric feel.
I searched high and low for the right pair of shoes to finish this outfit and these flats from Kmart took the cake! They are simple and cute and work right in with the colour scheme. Kmart has recently reduced their range of shoes a little bit, so not as many options as they used to have - but always great styles and fantastic prices. Kmart recently got a great score in a recent industry ethical report, by Baptist World Aid. You can read it and see the details from lots of other well known brands here: http://theregister.co.nz/news/2016/04/new-zealands-ethical-fashion-companies-2016-revealed-who-passed-test. Well done to Kmart! Always a favourite of mine, and even better knowing it's practices are good for the environment and workers.
